Amsterdamse fotograaf Thirza Schaap (46) kwam in 2012 naar Kaapstad, zag daar enorme hoeveelheden plastic op het strand en begon haar project Plastic Ocean.
Noortje de Leeuw is teruggekeerd naar de Moederstad om hier, hopelijk, de rest van haar leven te wonen. Ze heeft een eigen bedrijf dat ze gemakkelijk overal mee naar toe kan nemen. Afgelopen jaren heeft ze al veel van de wereld gezien.
Wageningse Hanneke de Bie (23) studeert Social Work aan de Hogeschool Utrecht. Ze zit in haar laatste studiejaar en werkt bij het Health Promoters in Stellenbosch, een non-profit organisatie dat voorlichtingen verzorgt aan bewoners van townships
‘The Flying Dutch Family’ ruilde hun veilige leven in Nederland in voor een jaar vol reizen en avontuur.
Justine loopt zes maanden stage in Zuid-Afrika. In slechts twee maanden heeft ze al menig item op haar bucketlist afgevinkt.
