Cape Towns biggest Gay Party MCQP launches 2006 Theme in Cruz

Great excitement greeted gay (and straight) Cape Town with the announcement of MCQP's theme for 2006

Great excitement greeted gay (and straight) Cape Town with the announcement of MCQP's theme for 2006. Judging by the reaction from the crowd, COMIC STRIP is a wildly popular choice.

And why not? Who doesn't want to be Batman or Wonder Woman, even if it's just for a night?

That MCQP Cape Town night will be 16th December 2006. It is already circled on any serious partygoer's calendar, both here in Cape Town and further a field.

Cape Town's hottest dress up party routinely draws crows from up north as well as around the world. And that's because it is a truly unique event; even by Cape Town standards. First up is the range of people that attend: more mixed in terms of age, race and sexuality than any other big night out.

Then the MCQP Cape Town organizers go to great lengths with entertainment, decor and the hottest DJs, to ensure a seamless spectacle for gay Cape Town. The proverbial cherry on the MCQP top has to be the revelers themselves who go great lengths to create amazing, witty or relevant (and sometimes all three!) costumes in line with the theme.

Overhead after the MCQP 2006 Theme announcement were lots of, "What about...' "Or what about...." "Ooo YES!" "Yes, of course there'll be loads of Super Men," says MCQP Creative Director Peter Hayes, "But then all the men that come to this party are super, and yes the women, a wonder!

But don't expect only the obvious; this is an intelligent, well-traveled part going audience who know their cultural references. It's bound to be a feast of fact, fiction and fantasy. Just like any good COMIC STRIP I suppose!"

The Launch Party for COMIC STRIP
, which took place at CRUZ in Green Point, featured loads of appropriate entertainment from a dozen dancers dressed to theme, and catering to every demographic the party attracts, to Wonder Woman, aka Sheena, who gave a heartfelt rendition of, I'm every Woman.'

Topping it off was Trevor Boris, a Canadian comic performing at Queer Com, part of The Cape Town Comedy Festival, who entertained guests with a short, but hilarious set!

All this bodes well for the MCQP party on 16th December, which, with the theme COMIC STRIP, is bound to delight jollers with loads that is comic and a ton of stripping!

The official MCQP after party is planned to be staged in the de Waterkant district from 4am on Sunday 17th December with a number of venues combined. Organisers have promised a party like no other with elements of the main party being reproduced in titillating fashion.
