Are you intrigued to delve into the question: What is art’s purpose? Entice your mind with engaging, thought-provoking works of art at the What Art Is FOR exhibition, showcased at the Victoria Wellness Centre and Gallery in Woodstock from Friday, 24 March to Monday, 24 April 2017.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2017 WHAT ART IS FOR GROUP EXHIBITION IN WOODSTOCK
Witness an exhibition of paintings, photographs, prints, installations, ceramics and sculptures, each creating a range of engaging experiences. Various artists, each working in separate disciplines, have been commissioned and challenged to interpret what their art is actually supposed to do once it is shared with the world, providing an understanding on how art is intertwined with life. “Here you will find art offering reminders of what is important in life, art to offer inspiration or comfort, to balance the needs of your heart.”
ARTISTS FEATURED AT THE 2017 WHAT ART IS FOR GROUP EXHIBITION
The artwork at the exhibition is intended to resonate directly with the viewer, that is why the artists will be available to listen to your comments and to help facilitate the conversation around their work.
The venue for the exhibition is a newly developed and quite peculiar space - the historic Altona Hotel in Victoria Street Woodstock, which has been reconditioned and transformed into a health and wellness centre and gallery, providing a variety of nourishing activities and therapies - which is also the paradigm under which the exhibition operates.
As the wonderful words of poet, Toni Morrison, so accurately says, “If art does not make us better, then what is art for…?”
