Friends Who Volley is a weekly summer event on Clifton 1st with volleyball games, sunsets and live music. It’s a great way to end off an evening in the summer and make new friends. Plus, it’s totally free.
This is the third season of Friends Who Volley. Image: @hansminaar_film
It all started with a few friends wanting to play beach volleyball. Now in its third season, Friends Who Valley has become one of Cape Town’s hottest summer socials. It happens every Thursday on Clifton 1st Beach. You can play a game, swim in the water or dance to the live music. The games start from 5pm and go until after sunset.
It’s on from the month of November until April. Image: @janikafirmani
You don’t need to be a pro volleyball player, or even play at all. Players can be at any level, it is purely for fun and no competition. If you’re lucky you might even get to play against a professional athlete (rumour has it that Springbok Damian Willemse was seen at an event).
The game is played in teams of five. Image: @amarens
Friends Who Volley takes place: Every Thursday, 5pm
Location: Clifton 1st Beach, Clifton
