Long-standing Long Street resident, SGT Pepper, is loved by locals, tourists, sports enthusiasts and students alike for its chilled vibes, rock ‘n roll roots, live music, amazing pizza and now, its daily happy hour. Make the most of it from their vibey balcony – there are cocktail specials, beer buckets and more. Find out when to go and what to try.

PARTY ON A BUSTLING BALCONY 

SGT Pepper is the place to go for music lovers. The menu has burgers named after music legends and the walls are covered with posters of The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. You can enjoy a burger (with a beer, of course) on the balcony overlooking Long Street while listening to live music. Although the decor makes the place feel like a rock haven, SGT Pepper also plays house, techno, Afro grooves, throwbacks and more.

DRINK COCKTAILS, BEER BUCKETS + JÄGERBOMBS 

Visit SGT Pepper any day of the week and treat yourself during happy hour: It’s on Tuesday to Friday from 5pm to 8pm; and Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 8pm. Besides Black Label (500ml) and Castle Lite draughts, Kegtails cocktails are on special. Choose between a Passion Fruit and Mango Mojito, Long Island, Strawberry Daiquiri or a Margarita (prices range from R48 to R84). 

Not a cocktail fan? Try the “always on” special - it’s got you covered regardless of your drink of choice. Get two double brandies, gin, vodka, rum and a mixer (R90), five Jägerbombs (R150) or a bucket of beer or cider (buy five and get the sixth free).

PAIR YOUR BOOZE WITH A BURGER 

SGT Pepper has great food that you’ll enjoy whether you’re making the most of happy hour or not. Try one of seven music-inspired burgers, The Colonel or Tannie Tandoori pizza, cheesy tomato-ey nachos, or the less-spicy peppadew poppers. Make sure to visit on Fridays - you’ll get a free beer if you order a Rock Star pizza or a Next Level burger.
