It’s unusual to find a meat-eater that doesn’t enjoy a good platter. We are talking about those big platters laden with yummy meats, cheeses and various fruits. Nobody knows cold-meats better than The Flying Pig in Darling, so they’ve decided to host a workshop on how to make your own delicious charcuterie. The meat-tastic knowledge-fest is taking place from Friday, 7 to Sunday, 9 July 2017 at The Flying Pig in Darling. Darling is only an hour outside of the city, and it is well worth a visit!
Curing your own meat is a skill that you can take with you wherever you go, and this opportunity doesn’t come around very often. Gil Ferreira, Charcutier at The Flying Pig, has planned a meat-curing weekend filled with all the info that you could ever need when making charcuterie. His course will show people how easy making charcuterie at home can be, and what they will need to make it (most is typically found in your kitchen). The course covers what equipment you will need, what meat to buy (and where to get it from), where to buy additional ingredients and which are the most important, and finally, how to do the actual deed and get those meats cured!
The news really only gets better because the price (while it may seem a lot) includes accommodation for the weekend and a full roster of activities to keep you busy while you relax and learn in Darling. The accommodation will be provided by Blombosch Venue which is near Yzerfontein; it’s a serene oasis just waiting for you to arrive! Meals for the whole weekend are also included (lunch on friday, a beer appreciation dinner at Darling Brew, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday at Rosemead Artisan and lunch at Hilda’s Kitchen Groote Post). Also included is a ‘bread appreciation course’, a DIY bacon kit, a detailed recipe book, a Flying Pig boning knife and transport to and from all of the activities. All you need to do is get to Blombosch by 12pm on Friday, 7 July 2017 and prepare yourself for a weekend that really is filled with food, beer, wine and fun. If you’re a foodie and you’re looking for a weekend away, you won’t get a better opportunity than this so don’t miss the Charcuterie Course at The Flying Pig!
You can find a detailed itinerary on their website; Flyingpigcured.com/charcuterie-course. Happy cooking people!
