The V&A Waterfront is Cape Town’s most popular neighbourhood for locals and visitors, and they’ve rounded up loads of special and free events on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Easter weekend. There’s a vinyl fair with 6 000+ records; egg hunts at the neighbourhood's beach clubs; free live shows; a kids entrepreneur market; meet and greets with the Easter bunny; an outdoor movie night… Take your pick.

There are two live shows on Saturday at the amphitheatre. Kicking off with the sounds of gospel is the Join Bands Not Gangs Easter Concert. Later on local band Perfectfifth_SA will be hitting the stage with soul music, including songs like "Vibe” that made waves on the HeartFM SA Top 10 Chart.

Calling all moms, dads, grannies, grandpas, aunts and uncles – create some core memories with your little chef. The Charming Chef is hosting a Big Chef, Little Chef in collaboration with Nomu. The little chefs will learn how to make Easter brownies and hot chocolate bombs in a 90-minute class.

The Easter Bunny and its helpers will be roaming around the Victoria Wharf Centre Court to say hi and snap a picture with fans. Take your kids to capture a special moment, plus get some Easter egg treats from the bunny itself. There’ll also be Easter-themed face painting sessions by the amphitheatre from Friday to Sunday, 12pm to 4pm.

The V&A Family Egg-scape is an exciting Easter adventure in collaboration with Adventure Works. Enjoy a family-friendly day with team challenges and exciting lawn games. There’s giant Scrabble, giant Jenga, boule, croquet, and badminton. Plus, stand a chance to win cash vouchers over R5000.

During the Easter edition of the popular V&A Kids Market, young entrepreneurs will show off their business skills and sell home-made products, from nifty gifts and gadgets to snacks and treats (great for Easter Sunday dessert). You can support the young Capetonian vendors in the shopping centre from Saturday to Sunday.

Musicophiles, this one’s for you. The V&A Record & Music Fair at the Watershed will have over 30 traders with 6 000+ records and other music memorabilia on sale, from band merch and tees to cassettes. And throughout the day there will be DJs on decks at the Watershed.

Easter Sunday is for connecting with loved ones, especially since the following day is a public holiday. Join the Galileo Open Air Cinema at Battery Park for an evening of family fun as they show the classic animation Shrek 2. You can get comfy seating and buy snacks, including popcorn, pizzas, burgers and drinks at the venue. Find more things to do at Battery Park.

Speaking of classic animations, comedy icon Jack Black will soon return to his role as Po in the hilarious Kung Fu Panda 4. Throughout Easter weekend you’ll have the chance to meet and greet a mascot of the iconic panda, promoting the upcoming action-comedy. And there’s potential giveaways.
