The Galileo Open Air Cinema at Kirstenbosch Garden is a summer bucket list experience. Kirstenbosch is Cape Town’s largest, most popular garden and is the ideal setting to watch your favourite movie at The Galileo, Cape Town’s beloved outdoor movie experience.

EXPLORE THIS BOTANICAL GARDEN BEFORE SCREENING

The Galileo screening for summer 2022/23 runs from 31 October 2022 until 29  April 2023, and every Wednesday to Friday screens at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Gather the gang for a picnic and a movie at this world-famous botanical garden in Newlands. This year’s Kirstenbosch selection has something for everyone with movies like Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone, House of Gucci and Die Hard. The Galileo's line-up is extensive, so you'll find something, whichever genre you prefer.

PICNIC UNDER THE STARS AT THE GALILEO

You can order food from the stalls at the venue and picnic while watching your movie. Order pizzas, burgers or fresh shawarmas. You can even order drinks, plus there’s coffee, tea and cold drinks, and, of course, movie essentials like popcorn. If you prefer, you can bring your own picnic.

WATCH FOR FREE ON YOUR BIRTHDAY

The Galileo is the ideal evening with family, friends, for work socials, date nights and birthday celebrations. This season again all are encouraged to come for free during their birthday week (excluding special shows). Arrive at the door with your ID to get in free.

Book: Tickets start from R129 per person, doors open 6pm. Movie starts after sunset. Book your tickets online.
Pensioner Special: Includes picnic movie entry, backrest and blanket, R120 per person. A valid ID needs to be displayed upon entry with your ticket you bought online.
