Char’d Grill & Wine Bar is arguably Hermanus’, if not the Western Cape’s, most unique restaurant experience. Best known for its steak, steampunk aesthetic and out-of-the-box approach to dining, it is also loved by locals for its inventive burgers and affordable weekly specials.

Every Monday choose any burger from our menu and your choice of Darling Brew or Birkenhead beer for R95. Special runs for the whole day every Monday.

Owner Petri Hendriksz says, “In addition to our steak experience, we also have awesome burgers. Our mince is made onsite, following the modern trend to utilise as much of the carcass as possible and having our on-site butchery.”

There are 11 burgers on the Char’d Grill menu. These include the Cheese Fondue Burger (R125), topped with fries, beef trimmings and a cheese sauce; and a burger topped with cheesy jalapeño and spicy syrup sauce, named The Cyril Burger (R120) after South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Arguably its most decadent and delicious creation is the Skud Jou Brisket Burger (R120), which consists of a burger patty topped with pulled smoked brisket, blue cheese, wonton and rocket.

There’s also a burger option for vegetarians, called the Fungi (R105), a mushroom and black bean patty topped with sriracha mayo and fried kale. Plus there are many more options for non-meat eaters at Char’d Grill.
