Weekends are for mischu
You can get breakfast and coffee with the R99 brunch special
Last updated: Monday, 15 July 2024
This coffee shop sits unpretentiously on one of the trendiest strips in Sea Point. It’s an easygoing spot to pop into for brunch or after a Sea Point Promenade walk. There’s daily food specials and award-winning coffee, and it's open from 6.45am on Saturdays (great for runners and cyclists). Here’s what you can get up to on a weekend visit to mischu.

AWARD-WINNING COFFEE SHOP IN SEA POINT
You’ll see all kinds of people at mischu. Cyclists pop in after a workout, dog walkers get their caffeine fix on their way to the Promenade, and families sit in for a lazy Saturday breakfast.
The massive windows overlook the bustling Regent Road in Sea Point, and the bright interior is filled with sleek black mirrors and hanging lights. Large wooden shelves display coffee beans and accessories, as well as board games (like wooden naughts and crosses and backgammon).

TRY THE BEST CAPPUCCINO IN CAPE TOWN?nbsp;
When it comes to coffee shops, we’re spoiled for choice. But it's difficult to beat mischu’s streak: It’s won awards for the Best Cappuccino in South Africa, Best Cappuccino in Cape Town, and the Best Espresso in Cape Town.
Most impressive of all is that it’s won Best Coffee in Cape Town not just once, but for three years in a row.
It's the Isabella blend that has won mischu so many awards. It’s a 100% Arabica coffee with a pleasant acidity and a dark chocolate and roasted hazelnut aftertaste. Its special backstory makes mischu one of Cape Town’s most beloved coffee shops.

SEA POINT BRUNCH SPECIAL
Once you’ve ordered your coffee, food is in order. What’s great about mischu is that the specials are valid on the weekends too, not just weekdays.
A cappuccino and eggs benedict costs R99 daily (until 4.30pm) or you can have a satisfying bowl of butternut soup, paired with a golden toastie, for R89. There’s also tomato soup for R119.
Besides the specials, there are also wholesome menu items like chia seed pudding (topped with toasted coconut shavings, almond biscotti, and fruit) and the Asian pulled beef bowl (with bok choy, soba noodles, and carrots).

BUY SOME COFFEE TO TAKE HOME
Before leaving, you can browse the packets of coffee (there are four blends that are available as beans, ground coffee and pods) and coffee-making equipment for sale.
They also have a selection of instant powders like a spicy chai and white or dark hot chocolate. And the online store is another great thing about mischu. Browse the selection and buy mischu coffee online.
The other blends are Sienna and Rafael, together with a variety of single-origin coffee. Image: mischu
