Every September 24th we celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of our country. And this year, it happens to be during a long weekend. From family activities and local storytelling to braai jols and groovy parties, here’s 7 ways to celebrate this Heritage Day.
Why not celebrate Heritage Day with some truly South African music. Dust off your dancing shoes and learn how to swing at District. The dance lesson is followed by the musical stylings of the Pebble Shakers, who celebrate South African jazz through a performance highlighting the Echoes of Sophiatown musical project.
When: Saturday, 23 September; 8pm to 12am
Cost: R200 book tickets via Quicket; R230 at the door

Celebrate African traditions and culture. Mama Africa Restaurant will be hosting a Kid’s Holiday Weekend Workshop where your child can enjoy engaging and educational activities. This includes marimbas, drums, face painting, magic and cinema. The event takes place over two days and there is a limit of 50 kids per day.

The start and finish points are both at Vangate Mall Sports Complex.
