The Soil Concert at Kirstenbosch Gardens
The proudly South African trio from Soweto bring their brand of kasi soul to the Mother City
If you enjoy the soulful sounds of acapella, be sure to mark this concert date in your calendar. The Soil will be blowing audiences away at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens on Sunday, 28 January 2018 as part of the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts series.
The Soil released their self-titled debut LP, The Soil, which achieved platinum status, selling over 50 000 copies. They have since toured India, the UK and South America. Their 2016 album, Echoes of Koffi, also enjoyed great success.
Hailing from Soweto in Johannesburg, the trio got their start in 2003 and has garnered a loyal following of fans over the years as they navigated the local music industry. The country stood up and took notice when the group released their debut offering, The Soil, in 2011. The members attribute the success of their creative process to their spirituality and often refer to their beliefs in their work.
Gates open at 4 pm while the concert gets underway at 5:30 pm. Bring a friend or two and enjoy the summer sunshine, breathtaking views and beautiful sounds.
