Sundays at Chicha!: Wine Tasting and Jazz
Beat the Sunday blues with wine, tapas and live music
Unwind at Chicha! every Sunday between 4pm and 7pm, where a live jazz band plays while you enjoy tapas and wine. If you want, you can join in on the wine tasting, where you get to sample six local wines selected by chef Julian Gabriel and the farm itself. A different farm is featured each month.
For R150pp, you’ll taste wines from farms such as Bouchard Finlayson, Beaumont Wines and Chamonix Wine Farm. The tasting includes complimentary olive and artisan bread.
Chicha! Is an intimate restaurant where you can grab a bite to eat and a glass of wine before heading out for the evening. This quaint, cosy wine and tapas bar adds a little extra flavour and atmosphere to the vibey, urban stretch on Regent Road in Sea Point.
WINE BY THE GLASS
The bar stocks around 60 different wines, of which more than 80% are offered per glass. The menu is specifically designed to balance the wines and their different complexities and staff are trained to recommend one or two wines that pair perfectly with each dish.
FROM DUCK TO FILLET
The food at Chicha! can be described as a fusion of worldly flavours, and the selection of tapas dishes are all uniquely different from one another.
The perfect winter dish is the confit duck leg cassoulet with dhania lamb sausage. According to Gabriel, the most unique dish is the Cape Malay-style chicken and prawn ravioli with almond and sultana butter. Other dishes that are a must-try are the Patagonian squid in chimichurri sauce and the IPA-marinated fillet.
