Grab your mom, your kids, your granddad and your friends and shimmy down with them to Push Skatepark in Brackenfell on Saturday, 5 August 2017, for Spring Fever. Our sun-loving city often starts anticipating the arrival of spring in the middle of the winter season – come August, spring will only be a month (and a bit) away. The excitement is bound to be infectious as the days get longer and the warmer weather is just around the corner. In the spirit of this, PUSH Skateboarding is holding an event where everyone is invited, regardless of age, to come down to its indoor park at 6pm on the day to release some giddiness by jamming and bopping to the live music of cool local bands.
Expect musos to bring you a range of feel-good rock sounds, from reverb-drenched surf rock to garage to an edge of punk. These bands are fresh up-and-comers with danceable rhythms that folks of all generations will feel the buzz. Performances will start at 6pm, so if you want to catch all the tunes, don’t be late!
The band line-up
PUSH’s newly built skatepark opened earlier this year, in March, and is a skater’s paradise. A large assortment of ramps, bannisters and steps will keep you doing pops and flips all day, and the interior has a clean-cut, slick finish. The park may appear intimidating to skateboard novices, but there’s something for everyone. The high ceiling and skylights make for an airy space with plenty of room for people to do their thing.
PUSH hosts skateboard events regularly and are strong advocates of the activity, with a desire to make it more accessible to communities. They hope to ignite enthusiasm in the youth through these exciting events. It also hosts kids’ birthday parties on request and hire out the park for other events.
