The Constantiaberg Art Society (CAS) will be unveiling its Spring 2017 Exhibition, showing at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, later this month. The exhibition will be going from Friday, 25 August until Thursday, 7 September 2017 and will display the works of a wide selection of local visual artists involved in CAS. Head over and see a collection of carefully curated art that wonderfully captures aspects of Capetonian life and displays an appreciation of South Africa’s natural beauty and flora.
Artists from all over our pretty city are given a platform by CAS, from which they can showcase their work to the public. CAS also provides workshops for budding painters who would like to improve their skills. In anticipation of Spring, which is now around the corner, the exhibition promises a colourful medley of pastel flowers, watercolours of the Drakensberg and Tankwa landscapes, portraits and other illustrations of locally-inspired rural and urban life. Look out for works by names like Retia Lamprrecht, Sue Paulson, Christopher Reid, Annemarie le Roux and more.
Whether you are constantly hunting for more art to marvel at or you’re simply accompanying an art enthusiast, the venue makes it a more than worthwhile way to spend a few hours. Along with looking around the gallery, you can also take the time to visit and explore Kirstenbosch. Its lush botanical gardens are regarded as some of the most beautiful in Africa. You’ll see ancient trees and plant species, gorgeous indigenous plants, healthy rolling lawns and animals such as guinea fowl and squirrels. Sometimes visitors are even lucky enough to see owls peering down at them from the branches. You can also treat yourself to tea and delicious slice of cake at the popular Kirstenbosch Tea Room, which is next door to where the Exhibition Hall will be.
