Siya Kolisi And Boity Light Up The Moët And Chandon Christmas Tree At The V&A Waterfront

Actress and rapper Boity is flying in especially for the occasion

Like the lighting of the Christmas tree at New York’s Rockefeller Centre, the Moët and Chandon Golden Tree lighting ceremony attracts thousands of visitors to the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront each year. You’re invited to join in the festivities on Friday the 29th of November at 6:30pm.

This year the tree, which is made of 2000 recycled champagne bottles, will be lit for the first time, during an extensive tree lighting ceremony, by Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok captain Siya Kolisi. This will kick-off the festive season in style at the V&A Waterfront.


IN HONOUR OF OUR RUGBY HEROES
Kolisi will be joined by other members of the Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok squad as guests of honour. Also making an appearance will be actress, rapper and model Boity as well as TV personality and singer, Katleho Sinivasan.

Visitors will be treated to performances by internationally revered opera singers Given Nkosi and Magdalene Minnaar as well as the Cape Town Youth Choir.

FOUR STOREYS OF CHAMPAGNE BOTTLES
The Moët & Chandon Golden Tree was created using over 2000 recycled champagne bottles and stands at an awe-inspiring four storeys. It’s wrapped in gold ribbon made from over 2000 shimmering discs, while 230 metres of LED lights will be programmed to illuminate in time to Christmas-themed music.

Moët & Chandon Minis will be on sale at the bars surrounding the tree. There will also be Moët & Chandon festive specials at participating restaurants in the Silo District and, with stores open until 8pm, visitors are encouraged to do some Christmas shopping on this glamorous occasion

ATTENDING THE EVENT
Entrance to the event is free and the tree can be found in front of the Zeitz Mocaa art museum in the Silo District of the V&A Waterfront. If you miss the opening ceremony don’t worry, every Friday in December is Festive Friday at the Silo District, with tree lighting experiences happening on 6, 13 and 20 December at 8:30pm.
