Sip and Swirl the Nectar of Yesteryear at La Motte
These wines are limited + can only be tasted here
“Zesty, tart, acidic because the grapes were harvested over a particularly hot summer, complex, full-bodied from maturing in new oak, soft tannins, smooth finish despite the high sugar to alcohol contrast” – if the sound of all this wine jargon already has you imagining the wine whirling in your mouth, then this particular wine tasting is for you.
LEARN ABOUT LA MOTTE”S WINE HISTORY
To get a taste of that history, La Motte offers an exclusive Vinoteque Tasting that takes collectors and wine lovers on a trip, sampling some of the most prized vintage wines produced by the estate.
The personalised tasting is hosted in the elegant private tasting room, where the history of wine-making at La Motte will be discussed in the broader context of the Franschhoek Valley and Cape wine-making region. Here you’ll also learn more about the benefits of bottle ageing and maturation in the vintage tasting or discover what makes La Motte internationally and locally acclaimed for its Syrah wines in the Syrah tasting.
YOU’LL BE TASTING THE BEST VINTAGES
“Our Millennium selection used to be our signature wine and that is why it features in the vintage tasting; to give guests a taste of where we came from,” says a wine ambassador. The Millennium is a Bordeaux-inspired blend, consisting of Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and forms one half the Vinoteque Tasting, guests will be served vintages from 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2009.
The other half of the tasting gives guests the chance to sample the Cabernet Sauvignon, made on the estate those same years. “We’ve chosen those years for the vintage tasting because those are the years both the Millennium and the Cab Sav performed the best,” the ambassador says. You can taste and admire the wines featured in the Vinoteque Tasting but you cannot purchase them as they have been reserved for tasting purposes only.
