Lush wine farm scenery, a fresh sea breeze and a stage set for blues, folk and rock ‘n’ roll. That’s how you transition from high stress to end-of-year relaxation. Unwind at Stanford Hills Estate when it hosts the second edition of the Blues, Rock & Roots Festival on 27 December.
BITTERBALLEN AND ROCKSTARS
Grab a picnic blanket for an outdoor music festival that will take you to the roots of rock ‘n’ roll. The Blues, Rock & Roots Festival brings together top local acts to one stage. This year it has the likes of Black Cat Bones, Gerald Clarke (back from the Czech Republic), Matt Carstens (no relation to Arno) and Albert Frost (who'll be the MC for the day).
There will also be a selection of food and drinks stalls if your belly starts rumbling to the music. You can grab anything from a schwarma to bitterballen from Dutchies as well as traditional German sausage. You can also grab wine or cocktails from the bar plus the Tasting Room Restaurant on the premises will be open until 7pm. Call +27 (0)72 639 6135 or email thetastingroom@stanfordhills.co.za to make a reservation.
IF YOU'RE UNDER 16, IT'S FREE
Tickets are R200 for adults and R150 for students who can show a valid student card. Kids under 16 get in free of charge. You can get your tickets here.
Be sure to take along identification just in case (you know, if you're under 16 but don't look it). Plus, there's a play area for the kids.
LET THE GURUS GET YOU HOME
If you're not feeling up for the drive, or know you'll be drinking and want to be responsible, ChillGuru is offering a shuttle service for R150 per person. The bus will take you from Hermanus to Stanford for the event and back again. It costs R150 per person and bookings are essential. Call +27 (0)82 700 4163 to reserve your spot or for more information.
