Sexy Groovy Love’s party in a magnificent manor

2 stages, 2 international headliners and a 2-night stay

This 200-year-old Victorian manor, complete with high ceilings and decorative woodwork, is surrounded by 23 hectares of olive groves and green lawns. It’s here that Sexy Groovy Love will celebrate its 10th birthday on 10 February 2024. An electronic dance party with a secret waterfall dancefloor, international and local DJs, and stays in the manor.

10 YEARS OF SEXY GROOVY LOVE

When founders Chris de Vos and Shaun Michaels entered Cape Town’s electronic scene 10 years ago, they wanted to come up with a project that focused on so much more than music. 

Besides hosting the hottest local and international artists, Sexy Groovy Love (SGL) is also known for its stunning venues across the Western Cape. Notable venues include the legendary Lichtenstein Castle (guarded by goblins and gargoyles) and the sea-front shores of the glamorous Grand Africa Café and Beach. 

Based on the location, each party follows its own theme, and is conceptualised with decor and visuals to match; like disco balls hanging from trees during the day or enchanting lights guiding you to the dance floor at night.

EXPLORE THE 200-YEAR-OLD MANOR

The Manor of Magic is hosted at Cascade Country Manor, which was once a royal homestead for the Duke of Bedford. The 200-year-old property is surrounded by 23 hectares of 100-year-old olive groves and rolling green lawns. 

A small stream meanders through the estate and “cascades'' into a waterfall, lending its name to the manor. A gurgling fountain in the courtyard and beautifully maintained gardens add a layer of old-world charm. There’s also a swimming pool for escaping Paarl’s summer heat.

AFRO HOUSE, PROGRESSIVE PSY, DISCO & MORE

The festival kicks off at 2pm and has two stages. The main stage will focus on techno, house, and afro house, with disco and funk influences. International headliner, Fabian Krooss, is from Berlin and is known for his energetic and bouncy sound with groovy beats. 

The other international name to look out for is the Italian disco duo, Phunkadelica. The two often mash their disco beats with robotic vocals, metallic swells and early 90's bleeps and hoover tones. They’ve described their sound as “underground house music with fearless electronic innovation”.

HIDDEN WATERFALL STAGE

A small pathway from the main stage takes you to the cascading waterfall. Hidden in mountainous bridges, trees, and shrubbery, the waterfall is the backdrop for the second stage. 

South African DJ duo The Disco Pirates will do a takeover of the waterfall stage for the second year in a row. They’re known for creating fun bootleg versions of old-school disco, with groovy remixed songs like Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” and Prince’s “I Wanna Be Your Lover”.

And making a sexy comeback to SGL are psychedelic sass-queens Coyote. The two powerhouse DJs, Talia Zaken and Savanna Goldring, bring sounds of melodic techno mixed with progressive psychedelic melodies. They often play covers of modern and classic tracks that the crowd can’t help but dance their hearts out to.

GOURMET FOOD TRUCKS & BARS

For food on the day, there’ll be a market filled with gourmet food trucks (with vegan options too). Beer and other drinks can be bought at the fully stocked cash bars, with a few specialty bars having different offerings. Drink specials will be announced closer to the event.

TICKET & SHUTTLE OPTIONS 

Super Early Bird tickets are already sold out, so jump on the Early Bird tickets for R290. Final Release tickets will cost you R590. 

You can also opt for group tickets (buy five and get one free). This’ll cost R276pp if you select the “arrive before 3pm” option and R350 for the normal option. There are also table bookings available at R650 per head. 

The venue is less than an hour away from Cape Town and shuttle services will be available to transport you from the parking area at Buffet Olives to the venue and back for the duration of the event (there is no parking available on the premises).

YOU CAN SPEND THE NIGHT TOO 

If you’d like to keep the party going and wake up to views of palm trees and mountains, you can book a two-night stay for Friday and Saturday (the day of the party).  

The offer costs R5 900 and includes two general tickets to the festival, a room for two at the Cascade Country Manor on Friday and Saturday night, and breakfast for both mornings.
