The International Public Art Festival 2022 (IPAF) is going up a level, literally: It’s adding multi-storey massive public murals to Cape Town CBD’s cityscape. Watch the best talent in street art, locally and internationally, as they paint, drawing inspiration from the theme “Humanity”. The festival is from 23 - 27 February, 2022.

There are already 133 murals throughout the city, and IPAF will be adding to those, free for all Capetonians and visitors to enjoy. This year’s murals will draw inspiration from the theme “humanity” – the aim being to reflect that despite the challenges each person faces individually, we’re all connected and together we can rebuild, reconnect, create and remember our humanity.
Street art is one way to start conversations with those around you. Image: Baz-Art
Watch massive murals being created before your eyes, and talk with street artists from around the world and hear the stories behind their creations. Walk through the streets and discover these treasures at your own pace or book a street art tour – by foot or bicycle – where you’ll get insider knowledge and hear the extraordinary stories behind the art.

IPAF has a long history with Saltriver and has run most of its festivals there, creating over 120 murals in that area alone. This year the festival takes on a new location, in the city’s CBD in Harrington Street, home to the Wild Eatery and Harrington's Cocktail Lounge.
