For 10 years Wolkop Weekender events have been the unmissable music festivals of the season.
Sure, it’s because of the impressive roster of 60+ DJs playing across multiple stages. But what makes them really special is the festival setting, with the sparkling Olifants River flowing through the site, coupled with yoga, hikes, swimming in the river, gourmet food and vintage clothing and jewellery markets.
This year the events have mashed into one epic four-day Wolfkop Weekender happening 16 - 20 January 2025 Here’s everything you need to know. Plus, a Spotify playlist to get you into the groove.
You can expect a full roster of DJs from Sweden to Soweto at Wolfkop Weekender. Image: Wolfkop Weekender
The first thing to know is that Wolfkop Weekender 2025 is a merging of the best of the annual festivals – Power Flower Picnic, Islands on the River, Cooked Sister and Lilo River Flow – into one big annual music festival getaway.
As always the Olifants River will come alive with music, dancing, relaxing, and camping & glamping.
It’s all about connecting in nature with music, because Wolfkop Weekender is as much a place to relax and connect in the outdoors, as it is for partying, dancing and making new friends.

You’ll find The Forest Floor buried deep in the woods. This is the main dance floor with bouncy tech house on Thursday, forward-thinking house and electro on Friday, deep and progressive sounds on Saturday and everything Afro on Sunday afternoon.
The River Stage has moved slightly upstream this year and hosts deep house and techno on Friday. On Saturday expect Afro afternoons into deep and disco-tech sounds, and handbag hands in the air all day on Sunday presented by He.She.They.
The Beach Boma hosts the cross-sectional musical stylings of the And Club Johannesburg massive on Thursday night, disco and deep house on Friday and is an all-day disco machine on Saturday, with Saturday night turning into sing-a-long-city.
While genre classification is possible, it is never advisable at Wolfkop. Music is curated by the very best in the business and you can shut your eyes and dance in the knowledge that those in the booth know exactly what to do for your mind, body and soul.
There’ll be seven international artists and 60+ local DJs. Image: Wolfkop Weekender
Wolfkop Weekender has also teamed up with a few world-famous record labels and party crews that’ll each bring something sublime to the dance floors.
Tropical Roast, known for their finely crafted small-batch events, will take the stage on Thursday and Wash Records will make their Wolfkop debut with Karoo, Bloem and The Fogshow. BacktoFunk Records will bring the funky beats of Faffa Bruwer and Los Jetsons to the mix.
On Friday, 20/20 Vision Recordings, who are performing worldwide in 2025 to celebrate 30 years of releasing electronic bangers, will light up the Forest Floor as part of their international tour.
On Sunday the world-famous queer collective He.She.They take over the River Stage with Panorama Bar regular Chris Cruse at the helm. Over at the Forest Floor, the team from BFM Records take over the entire day with rising stars Athie Umgido and Yamz on headline duties.

There will be a full roster of DJs from Sweden to Soweto, with seven international and 60 local acts, with different styles of music floating around the stages.
Axel Boman (from Sweden) is the marquee headliner with other artists coming from across the globe, including Ralph Lawson, with his deep house masterpieces, and Floyd Lavine, who will grace the stage with his inimitable sound that has seen him traverse the globe in recent years.
Rounding off the international roster are Tristan da Cunha, Chris Cruse and Delay Grounds. Internationally-recognised FKA MASH, from Soweto, is also in the lineup.
But you don’t have to be a house and techno lover to get into the full weekend. If you’re into throwbacks, DJ West will be playing sing-a-longs for four hours straight at the bar on Saturday night.
Each stage offers its own unique energy, so you can fall in love with new sounds all weekend. Image: Wolfkop Weekend
For all the exciting additions, Wolkop Weekender will stay true to being as much a rejuvenating weekend as it is a music festival.
Early risers can expect yoga, meditation workshops and sound journeys, and on Thursday and Friday morning there’ll be guided hikes through the valley. You can also wander into the spa and treat yourself to a massage.
At the river-side Valley Market, which will be spread out across the site, you can browse vintage clothing and jewellery. And the site-wide Gourmet Garden means you’ll never have to walk far or wait long for something tasty to eat.

Here’s a little something to get you in the mood for Wolfkop Weekender 2025:
There’ll be camping and glamping options at Wolfkop Weekender. You can bring your own camping gear and set up in Golden Valley or Lost Valley, or go for more luxurious pre-set tents in the Berry Fields, Golden Valley, Lost Valley and Noordhoek areas.
You can also stay at the Wolfkop Nature Reserve (there are on-site and off-site options with a kitchen, braai area, hot tub and swimming pool).
All tickets include four nights of accommodation and festival passes. You can book your festival weekend away on the Wolfkop Weekender website.

Pack sunscreen, bathers for river dips, comfy clothes for the day, layers for cooler evenings, and, of course, your dancing shoes.
Bring a cosy blanket for late-night stargazing or riverside lounging, and any camping supplies if you’re going the DIY route.
You can bring your own food, but no gas cooking appliances are allowed at the event. You can also bring your own alcohol and drink it in your campsite or tent (you’re not allowed to bring it to the dancefloor or bar area).

There will also be shuttles running all weekend from the event to off-site accommodations.
