Mountain bike through the wild terrain at De Hoop Nature Reserve
Enjoy a guided ride, dinners, wine, whale-watching and a goodie bag
Explore the vast terrain of De Hoop Nature Reserve in a three-day mountain biking experience. The 2020 De Hoop Vlei MTB Experience is back with some exciting changes. This year it's a guided mountain-biking tour filled with challenging terrain, wildlife, wine and panoramic views - plus, there’s a free massage to look forward to.
CYCLE THROUGH UNBEATABLE SCENERY
Due to Covid-19, there will be no racing or timing elements to the experience. Instead, from 20 to 22 November, a handful of riders will get to enjoy a comfortable mountain bike ride in and around De Hoop Nature Reserve. But, to make the track a little more challenging, you can expect to cycle through a combination of jeep and single tracks as well as limestone and protected vegetation areas.
TAKE IN PANORAMIC VIEWS
Your mountain biking weekend will kick off with a 19km Sunset Scramble Fun Ride on Friday evening and a 55km Flat Out On The Rock ride on Saturday. The 55km Saturday ride includes a brand new track which travels all the way up to the Buchu Bush Camp. From there you can soak up panoramic views of the entire Vlei and open flood plains.
In case the 55km trail sounds daunting there is a shorter 32km option. The De Mond-Melkkamer Dash is perfect for non-technical riders and beginners. To end it all off riders will get to travel along the Trails for Whales track where the whale spotting opportunities are unbeatable.
DINNERS, WINE, A MASSAGE AND A GOODIE BAG
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
To accompany all fitness levels the rides will be broken up into two groups. The fitter cyclists will leave first and slower riders will join fifteen minutes later. A professional tour guide will accompany each group along with a mechanical support crew. To secure your adventurous weekend getaway you can email nicola@dehoopcollection.co.za.
