Mother’s Day Lunch with The Sunflower Fund
Celebrate your mum with charity this year
Mother’s Day, while being obviously straightforward, is the one day a year that your mum expects you to show her some love. It doesn’t really matter what you do, as long as you do something. On Saturday, 13 May 2017 (the day before Mother’s Day proper) The Sunflower Fund are hosting their annual Mother’s Day Brunch.
The Cape Town based charity was started in 1999 in response to the deaths of two individuals that suffered from leukemia. The charity’s aim is to get as many people to sign up for the South African Bone Marrow Registry as possible; which could save many lives. Their vision is that no sufferer of leukemia should die because there was no match for them on the database. All it takes is two vials of blood to get registered on the national list, and your contribution could one day save a life.
The Sunflower Fund was run by Tina Botha for 13 years and the tragic death of her son, Chris Corlett, was one of the driving forces behind the organisation’s formation. In this sense the charity is very linked to Mother’s and on Saturday, 13 May 2017 they will be hosting a Mother’s day lunch at Stonehurst Estate Lifestyle Centre in Tokai.
Mums will be treated to delicious food, pop-up shops, goodie bags and inspirational guest speakers. They also stand a chance to win some awesome prizes. Stand out in a fancy hat, hair accessory or even a fascinator; dress to impress and the judges might select you as the day’s winner! A few lucky mums could win a make-over worth R5000 - which is enough to make someone feel beautiful and pampered.
