Enjoy any burger with a free beer at Rick’s Café on Kloof Street

Visit Rick’s Café Americain on Mondays and you’ll get a free pint of Woodstock Brewery Lager with any burger of your choice. This slice of Morocco on Kloof Street, inspired by the 1942 classic Casablanca, also has two happy hours - so you can have drinks on the rooftop bar until midnight.

EXPERIENCE A CLASSIC LOVE STORY 

Rick’s Café Americain is dedicated to the classic Casablanca love story. The flick is streamed in black and white on TVs throughout the restaurant and framed pictures of Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) and Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) decorate the walls. Above the Aviation bar (which houses more than 500 liquor bottles) hangs a Fokker F-XVIII, a model of the plane that appears in the film. Thanks to this attention to detail, when visiting Ricks, you’ll feel like you’re starring in your own modern love story.

TRY THIS WEEKLY BURGER SPECIAL

On Mondays at Ricks, you can order any burger and you’ll receive a free pint of Woodstock Brewery Lager (between 12pm and 10:30pm). Try the classic Rick’s Cheeseburger: an organic 100% beef patty with melted cheddar, topped with gherkins and red onion jam. There’s also the BMB Beef Burger with grilled bacon, sauteed mushrooms, red onion jam and melted brie.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can try the ostrich and gorgonzola burger. A juicy patty is topped with wild rocket, grilled pineapple, tomatoes, and a gorgonzola and sweet onion sauce. Otherwise, try the buttermilk fried chicken burger. Two ultra-crispy deep fried chicken breasts are paired with a spicy peppadew mayonnaise, red onions, lettuce and tomato.

Vegans can enjoy burger Mondays too. Ricks has a mushroom, aubergine, lentil and chickpea patty topped with sauteed mushrooms and vegan cheese.

ENJOY HAPPY HOUR TILL MIDNIGHT 

Keen for a second drink? Happy hour at Rick’s starts at 3pm and you can get big discounts on cocktails and Woodstock beer on tap. If you don’t want to leave just yet, you’ll also be able to enjoy Twilight Happy Hour from 10pm to 12am. The third floor is a rooftop terrace and bar, which means you can drink a cocktail while watching the late-night buzz of Kloof Street.
