If you think you’ve seen the coolest and most entertaining live music venues in Cape Town already, get ready for something spectacular, something that’s going to pump up the excitement and get your blood racing.
This chilly season, catch some of South Africa’s best bands in the Two Oceans Aquarium and Texx and the City’s ‘After Dark’ stripped-down music event series during June, July and August. Set against the moving background of The Aquarium’s I&J Ocean Exhibit, artists and bands, Southern Wild, Grassy Spark, AKING, Bam Bam Brown, Majozi and Gemma Griffiths, will entertain crowds with acoustic and local tunes.
Check out the lineup below for dates and take a listen to some of their popular songs:
Wednesday, 25 July: AKING and Bam Bam Brown
Hailing from Bellville, rock band AKING will be taking the stage at the second edition of After Dark in July.
Indie cool kid, Bam Bam Brown will also be bringing his moody tunes to the acoustic music affair.
Wednesday, 29 August: Majozi and Gemma Griffiths
Pop-singing Durbanite and SAMA nominee, Majozi will be bringing his catchy beats to the final leg of After Dark in August.
Gemma Griffiths will be bringing a bit more soul to the evening, ending off the last show of After Dark with her smooth singing voice.
Tecla from Texx in the City, who has her finger on the pulse of local music, says she’s looking forward to being able to host this awesome event at her favourite place in Cape Town.
“The Two Oceans Aquarium is without a doubt my favourite place in Cape Town and I’ve never been more excited about any events I’ve ever hosted. Texx and the City also turns 10 years old this year so I’m using After Dark as the perfect excuse to have three birthday parties that feature some of my favourite SA bands!”
What’s more, Drifter Brewing Company is partnering up with the event and will be providing either a refreshing buchu-infused gin and tonic, or a Pick Me Up Ale to each guest upon arrival, and the full range of Drifter beers will be on sale throughout each event.
With all of these awesome South African artists under one roof, you won't want to miss out on your chance to grab a ticket.
