Race World in Table View is hosting a summer competition for the kiddos. So if you were wondering how to keep them busy until the school year starts, Race World has a solution: a slot car racing competition with a grand finale on 10 January 2020.
WHAT IS SLOT CAR RACING?
Slot car racing is where scale cars are raced on a guiding track (similar to a train) using remote controls. The key to success is speed control which is an easy skill to master, according to the owner of Race World, who says it just takes a bit of time and focus to learn when to brake and when to accelerate so that the car doesn't come off the track. Besides the fun it’s also good for cognitive functions, as racing requires good hand-eye coordination and intense concentration.
GRAND PRIZES UP FOR GRABS
To enter, send a Whatsapp to +27 (0)82 634 4150 or fill in the form on the Race World events page. It costs R75 per person and entry is limited to ages 6 - 16. Each participant's time is recorded; and after the qualifiers, the 12 fastest racers are invited back to compete in the grand finale on 10 January.
First prize is a Race World birthday party and Carrera Evolution Set worth R5000. Second place gets a Carrera Go Set worth R1600. Third prize is a Carrera Go Set worth R1200. Those who place four, five and six receive Race World caps.
RACE WORLD HAS THE BIGGEST TRACK
The owners of Race World in Table View have over 20 years' experience with slot cars. Their track is 51,65 meters in length, six lanes wide and boasts 300 meters of raceway to enjoy, making it the biggest track in South Africa to date.
Race World also offers kids parties, bachelor parties, corporate events, team-building events as well as casual racing, and have a members club for serious slot car enthusiasts.
COMPETITION DETAILS
The remaining preliminary competition dates are from 6 to 9 January 2020. Kids can enter as many times as they like with parental permission. The final starts at 2pm on 10 January, with prizes handed out to the top six directly after.
