COMING IN 2024: Get your tickets for Wolfie Family Festival 2024 now (it sold out quickly in 2023). It's on from 8 - 10 March, book via Wolfkop Weekender.

Here's a sneak peak of what to expect.

------------------------

Imagine a child’s dream weekend away:

Play all day. And play all day, again. Without a care in the world...

A quick car ride to three days of non-stop play and adventure in nature with everyone they love, making new friends, paddling on a river, climbing trees, swimming, sleeping under the stars, movie nights, campfire stories…

It's no surprise that tickets to Wolfie Familie Festival, now in its 6th year, sell so fast.

Here are our top 10 reasons to book and make family history along the Olifants River in Citrusdal from 24 to 26 February

EVEN PARENTS FEEL LIKE KIDS AGAIN

See your kids play all day. And play all day, again.

Without a care in the world...

And have a care free weekend at least one weekend each year.

IT’S THE ULTIMATE BONDING EXPERIENCE

Wolfie Familie Festival is not the type of event where you drop the kids off and see them again three days later. The idea is to get involved in their activities, get messy, get sweaty, get dirty, get wet and make new family memories – and most likely, a few new friends, too. Gather your wolfpack and invite the cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbours and grandparents to come pitch a tent with you.

IT’S A SHORT DRIVE FROM CAPE TOWN

No kid (or grown-up) wants to spend hours in a hot car for a weekend away – happily, Wolfie Familie Festival takes place at the Wolfkop Camping Villages in Citrusdal, just a 2-hour easy road trip from Cape Town.

IT’S A PARENT-FRIENDLY KIDS’ FESTIVAL

There’ll be lots for the grown-ups to get involved in, but also time to unwind – the kids are guaranteed to sleep well after all the activities and fresh air. Lights out is latest 11pm each night, and no sound systems are allowed in the camp sites.

The Healing Daydream Wellness Spa offers treatments for adults and children, plus there’s family yoga and morning stretch sessions on the Saturday and Sunday. There’ll be medics and life guards on site to help keep the little wolfies safe.

THERE’S A COOL RIVER TO KAYAK AND PLAY IN

Camping in February can be hot, but the Olifants River is right there for plunging into whenever you need to cool down, plus there’s kayaking and water slides. Don’t forget to pack the lilos. Life jackets or inflatable armbands are also a good idea. For more on what to bring and what to expect, check out the super-useful prepping for Wolfie guide

THERE ARE ACTIVITIES ALMOST EVERY HOUR

The entertainment at Wolfie Familie Festival is endless – there’s an activity happening almost every hour, with something for everyone. Expect giant bubble making, storytelling, movie time, live music, talent shows, hoola dancing, magicians, a nature excursion, mask making, face painting and more. Inside tip: don’t miss the fire show at the Psychedelic Theatre on the Friday at 8pm.

THERE’S SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERY DAY

The action kicks off with the opening of the Fun Park at 9am on Friday, 24 February – your ticket allows you to arrive the day before and camp from the Thursday night already. Saturday and Sunday’s activities start at 7:30am with a secret sunrise disco each morning, and each day follows a different schedule of events, so there’s no chance of anyone getting bored. The Fun Park closes at 3pm on Sunday, 26 February. Check out the full line-up for the weekend.

YOU DON’T NEED TO PACK FOOD OR DRINKS

There’ll be food trucks and a bar service selling all kinds of drinks, coffee and smoothies all weekend, but if you want to take your own supplies, there are dedicated safe braai zones (you aren’t allowed to make your own fire). You’ll also be able to get ice and fresh water, so take your water bottles (no glass is allowed).

THERE’S AN ANIMAL GARDEN

You can’t bring the family pets with, but there’ll be plenty of petting opportunities in the Animal Garden – mostly farmyard animals like goats and rabbits – if the kids are missing their furry friends.

KIDS GET TO BE ENTREPRENEURS

Budding entrepreneurs can show off their wares at the Stars of the Future Garden, where kids can sell products they’ve made from 3-5pm on the Saturday. You just need to let the organisers know that your wolfie would like to take part and get an application form – email them on howl@wolfie.co.za.

BOOKING IS EASY (BUT HURRY!)

There are three accommodation zones at Wolfkop Camping Villages, each with different camping options – from bring-your-own tent and everything else (bedding, towels, cutlery, etc) to more luxurious glamping shaded tents with beds, bedding, mattresses and lights. Remaining tickets start at R550 per child and R1 250 per adult, for bring-your-own camping for four nights. Get details, prices and book your tickets before they’re gone.
