Just when you thought you knew how to make a steak the guys from the Hussar Grill, in conjunction with Silwood School Of Cookery, are out to show you how it’s really done.
They’re hosting a steak masterclass at the cookery school called Foodie Night School, and it runs from 6 to 20 February 2020.

FROM WET AGING TO COOKING
Hosted by Jason Allen, owner of the Hussar Grill, the masterclass will include lessons in cooking a sirloin, fillet and, SA’s favourite, rump steak. Allen will take you through the prepping and share tricks for braaing or grilling on a stove top.
You’ll also learn the art of wet aging your steak and will have a crack at making the Hussar Grill’s most requested steak sauces: Bearnaise and Creamy Pepper Sauce.
New skills aren't the only big reward from the class, you’ll be eating each steak right after it’s made while sipping on Ernst Gouws & Co vintage wines.
THE SILWOOD LEGACY
The Silwood School Of Cookery is the oldest established cooking school in the country. It’s situated on a 17th-century farm, and provides professional and part-time cookery courses. The courses meet international standards and have produced some of the country’s top chefs including Warren Carney (Purple Rayn), Kerry Kilpin (Tryn at Steenberg) and Charne Sampson (Epice, Franschhoek).

BOOKING YOUR STEAK NIGHT
The cost to attend a Steak Masterclass is R650 per person and includes the use of all provided equipment and ingredients, tuition and wine. The classes run from 6:30pm to 9:30pm on 6, 13 and 20 February.
