Celebrate the first day of 2025 in sunshine, right by the ocean at the iconic Grand Africa Café & Beach. Dancing to Shimza, JAMIIE and Sun-el Musician as they play immersive techno, indie, house and afrobeats. Or sitting at your table, which you can book cinema-style, relaxing into the day as you watch the giant disco ball on the waves and the boats go by.

NEW YEAR'S DAY AT THE BEACH 

This is Sexy Groovy Love’s romantic farewell to the iconic Grand Africa, as it will be the last New Year’s event at this seaside venue. 

“It’s our parting love letter to The Grand,” says Gia Hensburg, marketing and brand manager at Golden Hour, the organisers of the event.

The glamorous venue is on a private beach, which is accessed through a charming wooden walkway. Grand Africa is adorned with white and gold accents, white couches for lounging, and a gigantic disco ball.

It’s one of Cape Town’s most iconic destinations for any party, perfectly positioned along the seafront, so you can soak in stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island.

PARTY IN COMFORT

Get there early if you’re still shaking off that New Year’s Eve hangover, and you can book and chill at one of the many tables, order food and drinks, and soak up the sun while easing into the first day of 2025.

There will be a massive stretch tent so you’re covered for shade, plus the mezzanine area will be open and you’ll be able to see the waves rolling by.

It’s going to be one unforgettable gathering. “Even if you’ve booked a table and some of your friends have normal tickets, the sections aren’t separated so you’ll be able to share the same good vibes and excitement of the new year,” says Gia.

DISCO, TECHNO, AFRO & MORE 

Shimza will headline the event, with a two-hour set of his famous afro house music. “Watching his set is like watching a masterclass,” says Gia. 

Another exciting treat will be JAMIIE, all the way from Berlin, who will bring her signature groovy, afro-inspired techno to the mix. 

Sun-El Musician will take the stage at 4.30pm with deep house and afrobeats, and local legend Elk (who has performed at The SPIRIT Train) will have a bouncy set that plays very well to the crowd. “If indie-dance had a baby with house and the occasional afro bassline, that would be Elk. He’ll make you hear things you’ve never heard before,” says Gia. 

The Disco Pirates (uplifting, sassy iconic duo of Shaun Duvet and Ronald Rowley) are doing a Paradisco takeover of the indoor stage at midnight. “They’re like the dads of disco, and they’re timelessly cool,” she adds. 

Their set, a combination of music that’s familiar and new, will be a nice light end to your night. The event ends at 2am.

TICKETS & PARKING

Super Early Bird and Early Bird tickets are already gone. Sexy Bird tickets are priced at R1 250. Late Bird tickets will be R1 450 each. 

There’s also group bookings (buy 5 + get 1 free) from R1 042. 

This year, you can book your table just like a movie ticket, choosing your exact seat from the layout. Limited backstage tables for 12 people are available on the stage. Table tickets are priced from R1 950.
