If you can tell your Tchaikovsky from your Brahms or you just simply enjoy the melodious power of classical compositions, then you’ll be delighted to hear that the 2017 Cape Town International Summer Music Festival is set to chime down on the Mother City’s City Hall from Thursday, 26 January to Sunday, 5 February 2017.
Now in its eleventh year, the annual concert series, which is presented by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CTPO), showcases some of the globe’s finest soloists from the classical music scene. Every weekly show features a different guest pianist or violinist, each of whom is accompanied by the CTPO in their rendition of compositions by the likes of Beethoven, Shostakovich and Prokofiev.

Guitar master James Grace, with help from conductor Arjen Tien will entrance you with quality musical compositions from ages passed and the present day! |

Joana MacGregor on piano and Arhen Tien as a conductor – talk about a match made in heaven! You can look forward to Prokofiev Lieutenant Kije Suite, Op.60 and Shostakovich piano concerto No.2 to in F Op. 70. |

The ‘Beethoven Triple’, with conductor Brandon Phillips, will play Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture and his concert for violin, cello and piano. They will also play Tchaikovsky’s Symphony number 6. The performers include Albie van Schalkwyk on piano, Samson Diamond on violin and Anmari van der Westhuizen on the cello. |

Tickets for each concert are available online from Computicket.com or from the various Computicket outlets. Entry to each event costs between R90p/p and R230p/p, depending on your seating choice, and discounts apply if tickets are bought in packages for all the concerts at the same time.
