Get your soul stirred with the melancholic sound of the delta blues when veteran bluesman Doc Maclean brings his South African tour to the Red Herring in the quaint village of Noordhoek. The concert is happening on 12 January.
WHO IS DOC MACLEAN?
Maclean has toured the world extensively during his 40+ year career. He has opened for the legendary bluesman Muddy Waters and once spent upward of 250 days on tour. He’s a storytelling musician using a fingerpicking slide guitar style to create a backdrop for his songs.
Maclean’s touring method is as rugged as he looks. He plays anything from big arenas to small venues, and even pop-up gigs with other musicians. He also sets up his own rig and, where he can, drives himself to shows.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE RED HERRING
A quaint restaurant in Noordhoek, the Red Herring is known for making tasty woodfired pizza and providing a great view of the Cape Town sunset. You can take in the view from the restaurant’s sunset deck, sample some vino in the Wine and Swine section, chill out in the leafy courtyard or have one of the selections of local craft beers (local as in brewed in the Noordhoek Valley) in the upstairs bar. Besides pizza, the menu also has starters, meat, seafood and vegan options as well.
