Binge watch the virtual National Arts Festival

You can still buy tickets until 16 July

This year’s National Arts Festival may have come to an end on 5 July, but the good news is, you still have time to watch (or rewatch) a feast of shows. You can buy tickets (or use the ones you’ve already booked) for the curated programme and Standard Bank Jazz Festival until 16 July.

ACCESS OVER 270 HOURS OF SHOWS
For the first time in its 46-year history, the festival was held entirely online due to Covid-19 concerns. Luckily, you can still access the diverse collection of South African works - from art, music, theatre, dance, webinars and comedy - which totals more than 270 hours of viewing. Talk about binge-watching.

Plus, you can access vFringe, a pay-per-view platform for artists to sell tickets and gain exposure (90% of the ticket proceeds go to the artist). 

On vfringe, you can expect productions like Domination, which is an expression of how the lives of people of colour were affected over the last few centuries up until today, and Girl, a one-woman dark comedy about a lost girl starring award-winning actress Namisa Mdlalose.

THE JAZZ FESTIVAL IN YOUR LIVING ROOM
Clear some space in your lounge and dance along to some of South Africa’s top musical talent - from Thandiswa Mazwai and the soulful trio of MiCasa to this year’s Standard Bank Young Artist Award winner for Jazz, Sisonke Xonti.

The Standard Bank Jazz Festival’s programme has ensured that local musicians get an opportunity to show off their talent. That being said, the headlining act is young British multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier, who has already won four Grammys and has been compared to Mozart by festival organisers.
