The ever-popular #moonlightmass bike rides are back and the only thing religious about Cape Town’s favourite night cycles is the pious devotion participants hold for the event. Organised and resurrected by Critical Mass Cape Town, the next ride will take place on Monday, 7 August 2017, from the Cape Town Stadium.
This full moon cycle isn’t aimed at lycra-clad, leg-shaved speed freaks, but Capetonians who commute using the good ol’ bicycle. The ride highlights the fact that Cape Town has an embarrassingly high carbon emission rate that can be offset by using greener transportation methods like carpooling or public transport.
Cyclists are asked to meet under the Green Point roundabout (Green Point circle) at 8pm. At 8:15pm the ride pedals off and takes you through various parts of our beautiful city. The fun really starts when the masses take over the inner city, riding along Loop Street, then Longmarket Street to finish at Baran’s in Greenmarket Square, where plenty of coffee and drinks will be consumed.
THERE ARE ONLY FOUR SIMPLE RULES TO FOLLOW:
