WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2014 HOPE MUSIC FESTIVAL AT THE PAUL CLUVER AMPHITHEATRE

The eclectic mix of music genres offers a line-up to keep all ages grooving into the evening, from youngsters looking for a jol to folks on the hunt for something fun for the family to do. With Seano from Good Hope FM as emcee for the day, the annual fiesta presents music lovers with the chance to see the talented Jesse Clegg, who will headline the show, as well as top-notch acts like aKING, Michael Lowman, Mr Cat & The Jackal, The Nomadic Orchestra and Emma van Heyningen.

KIDS ACTIVITIES: Aside from offering top tunes, the yearly shindig has a throng of things to do for kids. There will be a balloon twister, a treasure hunt and even a couple of carnival-style games to keep the little ones entertained. Plus, there will also be an awesome giveaway on the cards, with an opportunity to win a Build-a-Bear experience.

FOOD & WINE: While festival-goers are more than welcome to bring along a picnic basket filled with treats, for those who are less inclined to pre-pack a spread, there’s also a slew of yummy goodies on offer, including sushi, wood-fired pizzas and snacks as well as Paul Cluver wines. What’s more, the celebration affords festival-goers the opportunity to swirl some of Elgin’s finest vinos at the wine tastings as well as sip on Tipsy Gypsy’s famous summer cocktails as well as craft beer from Triggerfish Brewery. Not to mention, there’s even a stall filled with carnival treats, like candy floss, for the little ones (and the young at heart). Do note, alcohol brought from home will not be allowed.

CHARITY: This family-friendly day out in the picturesque Elgin Winelands also supports the Thembalitsha Foundation, a Western Cape-based non-profit organisation that spreads aims to spread hope throughout the impoverished communities of South Africa. Through numerous projects and programmes, in particular the Village of Hope, provides a safe and loving environment for children infected with or affected by HIV, AIDS and TB. Aside from educating and supporting the children in Grabouw’s communities, the foundation also hosts a support group and sports-based social outreach programmes for HIV+ adolescents.

SO...: It goes without saying that audiences should make the most of this musical opportunity; take along a picnic basket, some cushions, blankets and something warm to wear for the cooler evenings and prepare for an unforgettable experience in a breathtaking setting. Because, let’s face it, with a day jam-packed with quality acts, great entertainment, food and wine, there’s very little motive not to attend. Plus, ticket-holders will also be supporting an exceptional cause.
