For all those families who hate leaving their canine companions behind, here is a fun racing event where you can involve your pooch.
The Paddle for the Paws charity event is happening at Battery Park on 14 March and you can bring your fur kids along for a day of tandem races and family relays.
LET THE RACES BEGIN
There are numerous race categories for people and their pups. Individual races include 1.5km laps for beginners and 3km for more experienced paddlers.
Teams of four to eight members can race: four members in the dragon race, or eight members for the XL sprint offs on a SUP board. There are also tandem races for two people on a SUP board, or one person and a dog on a SUP board.
You don't pre-register for a race, instead, listen out for when your race of interest is called, then you, your dog and your team can head down to the water.
PUP OVERBOARD
If your dog jumps ship, dedicated SUP Cape Town staff is well equipped to monitor the safety on the water and deal with any emergencies.
DON'T MISS OUT ON THE GOODIE BAGS
Goodie bags will be given to the first fifty pre-registrations. If you hurry now, you could get a bag filled with items such as a mini waterless hand sanitiser from Charlotte Rhys, a Vondi's doggy Treat, a Ricky Litchfield sample and more.
TICKETS
Don't miss out on a fun day with your pup. Tickets are R180pp, and all proceeds will go to animals in need.
